John's Ford Anglia Page

News

November 2003:

I've bought a '32 Ford!

I'll be creating another site for developments to it, but I'll leave the anglia pages for anyone who is interested!

August 2003:

Well, I've sold my Anglia! I was approached at the Supernats show at Old Warden Park by Dave and Paula Brown, from wedriveit, who wanted to use my car for a show of famous vehicles in Seoul (of all places!). As mine looks like Harry Potter's, it is of interest in that way. (I have to say that actually put me off owning the car!) I'd had it before the Harry Potter thing really took off. We agreed that I would sell it and I handed it over at the NASC Nationals a fortnight later. This is a pic of it being loaded for the journey.

March 2003:

Took my Anglia up to RMR Restorations in Glasgow for some more work... We finally sorted the rear suspension by using revised bell-cranks and relocating the pivot point on a new crossmember. Pics of the revisions are on the Suspension page.

I went to see how Jim Brown was getting on with his Super while I was up in Glasgow. It looks like it's going to be a belter when it's done! He was talking about taking it To the strip at North Weald this Summer. I've created a separate page for Jim's car. Click here for pics of it...

December 31st 2002:

Forum problems again... The server had a hard disk failure, and the forums and two other sites I'm involved with were lost.

I took some shots of my mate's truck when I was up in Scotland for Xmas. Click Here.

Happy New Year!!!

November 14th 2002:

I've created a new page with details of the 1950 Chevy Stepside that My mate is rebuilding. Yet again, even more pics!! You can reach it by clicking Here.

September 1st 2002:

Fixed the forum (hopefully!). I've installed a new one. As the server is on different web space, Internet Explorer has a bit of a problem dealing with it. New posts can be made, but when the page is created, IE can't open it for some reason. However, if you click the link to the forum, your post is there ok. Please don't let it put you off posting. It all works fine with Netscape. You can reach it by clicking Here.

August 23rd-26th 2002:

Went to the NASC Nationals at Hertfordshire County Showground. Fantastic! Although my friends from Glasgow were in a crash on their way home that could have been really an awful lot worse. They were in Billy's '52 Chevy Truck, and he had to swerve to avoid something in the middle of the lane, and it was only the armco barrier in the central reservation that stopped his truck from flipping over as it slid round 180 degrees, to face the oncoming traffic. Amazingly, there were no serious injuries, and apart from the damage to the truck, which is reasonably serious, a major pile-up did not happen... There are pics of the show on the gallery page.

August 2nd-4th 2002:

Went to the show at Knebworth House. The rain spoilt it a bit, but the turnout on the Sunday was huge. There weren't as many Anglias as usual. There are pics on the gallery page.

July 21st 2002:

Went to the Uxbridge Auto show. It was much larger than I expected it would be, and if I'd had more money, I'd have bought lots of bits. I got a tin of paint and a Haynes Escort manual. There are pics on the gallery page.

July 19th 2002:

Fitted a rev counter. Not sure where to locate it though...

July 7th 2002:

Went to the Scottish Classic Ford Show at Bridge of Allan with my mate Billy in his '52 Chevy pick-up. Click here for a pic of it. It drives like a new car! I picked up six chrome hubcaps for my Lotus Steels for £10.

June 9th 2002:

Went to the NASC show at Billing aquadrome. It was a pity about the weather. The points gave up on the car on the way up, but somehow I managed to make it. I got another set at Halfords (the LAST one!) on the Sunday. Then on the way home, a bearing in the alternator gave up, and it rubbed the fins down, but the old girl got me home ok! I met some nice blokes and took some pics of their Anglias. Click on the gallery page to check them out.

May 12th 2002:

My neighbour Ed, (whose into Minis) adjusted the timing on the car............WOW!....and I'd thought it was the carb needing adjustment.

April 29th 2002:

Fitted gaiters to the push rods to keep the boot area sealed. They are VW van drive shaft CV gaiters. I just need to secure the bottom plates with self tappers.

April 2002:

It appears that the carbs I bought are beyond economical repair. They've been steeping in Diesel for a couple of weeks, but the spindles are seized. Lucky It was only £50. The manifold will still be used, and I've got another pair lined up hopefully...

March 2002:

Got a set of Lotus Steels. They need work, but I think with a set of original Anglia hubcaps, they will look really good.
