I spent a week up in Glasgow helping with the car.
before stripping the old bits off the engine
I painted block "Mazda blue!!"
The engine with the new bits on it
The ront suspension built up
Ross had to cut out and box in notches in the chassis rails
so the Leaf spring didn't foul them
Front suspension and engine fitted
Peco exhaust boxes
As I left it, awaiting spindle nuts...
I decided to go for brand new parts for my fuel delivery. I went to Real Steel in Uxbridge and bought a Holley 600cfm carb.
I got the manifold off a bloke called John via his ad on the Eurodragster site. It was still boxed and bagged, and £70 cheaper than retail!
He's excelled himself to create this housing for my Moon guages!
The seats are now in place. The steering wheel is mocked up at the moment, but it's all shaping up well!
Ross sourced some new juicy parts for my car...
I reserved a pair of lower steering arms for right hand drive from Pop Browns. I hope to receive them early in March.
Some engine dress-up bits, including chrome rocker covers. Yummy!
New Headers that fit real nice in there.
Can't wait to get up there in March!
The Dropped headlamp bar was trial fitted. It instantly transforms it into something looking rod-like (even though there's tons still to do...)
I did an experiment, and ordered some 4" peep mirrors from Mooneyes direct from the States to see if it was cheaper. Not recommended! as $24 mirrors ended up at $84 with shipping and handling, and then I was hit with a customs charge of £8.65 and £4 Royal Mail "clearance fee"!! Think I'll just call someone local next time...
The body is now temporarily back on the chassis...
to allow for cutting in the floor and bulkhead to clear the engine and transmission.
Quite pleased that it looks like there is still reasonable space for the pedals.
Spent Xmas up in Glasgow at RMR, where we did more to the car. Pics Below.
Took the body off
Chassis was solidly constructed, (if a little agricultural in places)
Put in '46 Chevy lights, of which one was destroyed when I dropped the bootlid on it!
Lined the doors and boot, and fitted the rear bulkhead. (Wood is so cheap in B&Q!)
This is what the front looked like before it was removed to make way for the planned I-beam setup.
Kerry from Originals kindly sent up a Model A front X-member so we could mock up Paul Rooney's i-beam and fabricate the necessary mounts etc. (Thanks Paul!;-))
To the left and right, Pauls i-beam in position...
Getting an idea of engine position
It's in!
It's going to be a tight squeeze fitting right hand drive in there!
I had to cancel my order with Dooster because they had problems with their materials suppliers. I'm going to get Ross to fabricate some steel chassis rail covers. He's good that way, so I don't forsee any probs getting them to look right!
I bought Mini winder mechanisms and a Mini heater matrix from "Minimania" in Hanwell London. I now have a pile of parts that I'm bringing up at Xmas!
My new(ish!) seats.
Recaros from a Cosworth Sierra (retaining the Ford theme ;-))
The Rover V8 has now been removed and sold.
I bought an 8 point wiring kit from Pop Browns and chassis rail sill covers from Dooster. It's not a Dooster chassis, but there is a horrible gap that needs covered!
I also bought 7" lamp units, a Vintique stainless steel dropped headlight bar, a Moon mirror, Moon 5 gauge set, and a pair of Chevy rear lamps from Saturn Industries.
I'm taking it all up to Glasgow over the Xmas break to see how it looks!
To replace the Rover lump in there, I've bought a small block Ford 302 complete with C4 transmission. To the right is the steering column. The stalks look ok, but that wheel HAS to go!
This is what I've bought...
Chassis Works '32 3-window coupe bodyshell.
Trying out a set of Recaros for size!
This view shows that the front needs to be lowered somewhat.

The Gelcoat polishes up well. It will have to do for the moment, so that's lucky!
